Artist: Byrds
Genre: Folk Rock

The Byrds were an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1964, considered folk rock pioneers and influential in psychedelic rock and country rock development. The original lineup featured Roger McGuinn, Gene Clark, David Crosby, Chris Hillman, and Michael Clarke. The Byrds created a distinctive sound combining Bob Dylan-influenced folk with Beatles-inspired rock, particularly featuring McGuinn's 12-string Rickenbacker guitar. Their cover of Dylan's 'Mr. Tambourine Man' became a number one hit and essentially created folk rock. Other classics include 'Turn! Turn! Turn!,' 'Eight Miles High,' and 'So You Want to Be a Rock 'n' Roll Star.' The Byrds pioneered jangly guitar pop that influenced countless bands.
