Buzzcocks are an English punk rock band formed in Manchester in 1976, becoming one of punk's most influential bands. Fronted by Pete Shelley (Howard Devoto left after the first EP), Buzzcocks pioneered the fusion of punk energy with pop melody, essentially creating pop-punk. Their songs were short, fast, and featured catchy hooks alongside punk aggression. Major songs include 'Ever Fallen in Love (With Someone You Shouldn't've),' 'What Do I Get?,' and 'Orgasm Addict.' They were one of the first punk bands to establish an independent record label, influencing DIY punk. Their influence on pop-punk, power pop, and alternative rock has been enormous. Buzzcocks have continued following Shelley's 2018 death.
