Artist: Budgie
Genre: Heavy Metal
Budgie are a Welsh heavy metal band formed in Cardiff in 1967, consisting of Burke Shelley, Tony Bourge, and Ray Phillips. Budgie were heavy metal pioneers, influencing the New Wave of British Heavy Metal development. Their music combined heavy riffs, complex song structures, and Shelley's distinctive high-pitched vocals and bass playing. Songs like 'Breadfan' and 'Crash Course in Brain Surgery' became underground classics and were later covered by Metallica. Despite never achieving major commercial success, Budgie influenced numerous metal bands and maintained a devoted cult following. They represented Welsh heavy music and demonstrated that heavy metal could be sophisticated and complex.
