Boy George (born George O'Dowd in 1961) is an English singer, songwriter, and DJ, best known as Culture Club's lead vocalist. With Culture Club, Boy George achieved massive 1980s success with hits including 'Do You Really Want to Hurt Me,' 'Karma Chameleon,' and 'Time (Clock of the Heart).' His androgynous appearance, distinctive soulful voice, and colorful image made him one of the most recognizable 1980s pop culture figures. His willingness to challenge gender norms was groundbreaking in mainstream pop. After Culture Club's breakup, he pursued successful solo and DJ careers. Despite personal struggles with addiction, Boy George maintained his career and cultural relevance as an LGBTQ+ icon.
