Bow Wow Wow were a British new wave band formed in London in 1980 by former Sex Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren, featuring 13-year-old Annabella Lwin on vocals. The band created a unique blend of new wave, post-punk, and world music, particularly incorporating Burundi-style drumming. Their music was energetic and tribal, with songs like 'Go Wild in the Country,' 'I Want Candy,' and 'Do You Wanna Hold Me?' McLaren's controversial management attracted attention and criticism. The band's sound influenced new wave development and anticipated world music trends. Internal tensions led to breakup in 1983, though they reformed several times. Bow Wow Wow represented new wave's experimental, globally influenced side.
