Bobby Womack was an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist born in 1944, who became one of soul music's most influential and versatile figures. Womack began in the family gospel group The Valentinos before becoming a successful solo artist and prolific songwriter. He wrote and co-wrote numerous hits including 'It's All Over Now' (made famous by The Rolling Stones). Womack's solo hits included 'Across 110th Street,' 'Harry Hippie,' and 'If You Think You're Lonely Now.' His rough, emotional vocal style and guitar playing bridged soul, R&B, gospel, and rock. Despite personal struggles and tragedies, Womack maintained his career across six decades. He passed away in 2014.
