Bobby Vee was an American pop singer born Robert Velline in 1943, who became a teen idol in the early 1960s. Vee's career began tragically when he filled in for Buddy Holly the day after Holly's death in 1959. This led to a recording contract and hits including 'Take Good Care of My Baby,' 'The Night Has a Thousand Eyes,' and 'Run to Him.' Vee's clean-cut image and smooth vocals made him a favorite among early 1960s pop fans. Bob Dylan played piano in Vee's band early in his career. Vee continued performing on the oldies circuit and passed away in 2016 from Alzheimer's disease complications.
