Bobby Darin was an American singer, songwriter, and actor born Walden Robert Cassotto in 1936, who achieved success across multiple musical genres. Darin began in rock and roll with 'Splish Splash' before becoming a sophisticated standards and contemporary pop interpreter. His version of 'Mack the Knife' in 1959 became his signature song and topped charts worldwide, winning Grammys. Darin's versatility allowed him to move between rock and roll, jazz, folk, and country. He wrote 'Dream Lover' and other hits while recording standards albums. His Las Vegas performances and film career made him a major entertainment figure. He passed away in 1973 at 37 following heart surgery.
