Artist: Bo Diddley
Genre: Rock and Roll

Bo Diddley was an American rock and roll pioneer born Ellas McDaniel in 1928, known for his distinctive rhythmic style that became the 'Bo Diddley beat.' This syncopated rhythm, derived from African and Latin American traditions, became one of rock and roll's most influential patterns. Diddley's innovative guitar playing, rectangular guitars, and theatrical performances made him unique in early rock and roll. His songs 'Bo Diddley,' 'Who Do You Love?,' and 'I'm a Man' became rock standards. Despite his enormous influence, Diddley never achieved the same commercial success as some contemporaries. He passed away in 2008, recognized as one of rock and roll's founding fathers.
