The Bluetones were an English indie rock band formed in Hounslow in 1993, consisting of Mark Morriss, Adam Devlin, Scott Morriss, and Eds Chesters. The band was part of the Britpop movement and achieved significant mid-to-late 1990s success. Their debut album 'Expecting to Fly' went straight to UK number one, featuring hit single 'Slight Return.' The Bluetones' music combined jangly guitars reminiscent of The Smiths with 1960s psychedelic influences and Britpop sensibilities. Mark Morriss's distinctive vocals and the band's melodic approach set them apart. Other successful songs included 'Marblehead Johnson' and 'Solomon Bites the Worm.' They disbanded in 2011 after releasing six albums.
