Artist: Bluebells
Genre: Indie Pop
The Bluebells were a Scottish indie pop band formed in Glasgow in 1981, achieving mid-1980s success with jangly guitar pop sound. The band consisted of Robert Hodgens (Bobby Bluebell), David McCluskey, Craig Gannon, and others. Their biggest hit was 'Young at Heart,' which reached UK number one when re-released in 1993 after being featured in a Volkswagen commercial. The Bluebells' music combined jangly guitars with melodic pop sensibilities, influenced by 1960s pop and contemporary indie pop. Despite their catchy songs and radio-friendly sound, commercial success was limited during their original incarnation. The 1993 re-release brought them belated recognition.
