Blood, Sweat & Tears are an American jazz-rock band formed in New York City in 1967, pioneering horn section integration into rock music. Founded by Al Kooper, Bobby Colomby, and Steve Katz, the band achieved greatest success after Kooper's departure with singer David Clayton-Thomas. Their self-titled second album won 1970 Album of the Year Grammy, featuring hits like 'Spinning Wheel,' 'You've Made Me So Very Happy,' and 'And When I Die.' Blood, Sweat & Tears' music combined rock, jazz, R&B, and pop with sophisticated horn arrangements. They helped establish the template for horn-based rock, influencing Chicago and others.
