Artist: Blancmange
Genre: Synth-pop
Blancmange are an English synth-pop band formed in London in 1979, consisting of Neil Arthur and Stephen Luscombe. The duo achieved success in the early-mid 1980s with their distinctive blend of synthesizers, world music influences, and Arthur's soulful vocals. Their hits included 'Living on the Ceiling,' 'Waves,' and 'Blind Vision.' Blancmange's music was more experimental than typical synth-pop, incorporating funk, Asian music, and avant-garde experimentation alongside accessible pop melodies. Their cover of ABBA's 'The Day Before You Came' demonstrated their ability to reinterpret familiar material uniquely. After splitting in 1986, Arthur revived Blancmange in 2011 and has continued releasing albums.
