Bis are a Scottish indie pop band formed in Glasgow in 1994, consisting of Steven Clark (Sci-Fi Steven), John Clark (John Disco), and Amanda MacKinnon (Manda Rin). The band emerged during Britpop but maintained an independent, DIY aesthetic closer to American indie rock. Bis created energetic, punk-influenced indie pop with electronic elements, characterized by youthful energy and deliberately lo-fi aesthetic. They achieved greatest success with songs like 'Kandy Pop' and became the first unsigned band to appear on Top of the Pops. Bis embraced technology and internet culture early, pioneering direct-to-fan distribution. The band has continued releasing music and performing.
