Artist: Billy Preston
Genre: Soul
Billy Preston was an American musician born in 1946, known as the 'Fifth Beatle' for his keyboard work with The Beatles, though he had successful career before and after that association. Preston was a child prodigy who performed with gospel great Mahalia Jackson as a child. He became one of the most sought-after session keyboardists in popular music. Preston's solo career produced hits including 'Will It Go Round in Circles,' 'Nothing from Nothing,' and 'Outa-Space.' His keyboard playing, particularly on Hammond organ and electric piano, was characterized by gospel-influenced soul and technical virtuosity. Preston struggled with drug addiction later but remained respected. He passed away in 2006.
