Artist: Billy Fury
Genre: Rock and Roll
Billy Fury was an English rock and roll singer born Ronald Wycherley in 1940, who became one of Britain's most successful pre-Beatles rock stars. Fury had a string of early 1960s UK hits including 'Halfway to Paradise,' 'Jealousy,' and 'Like I've Never Been Gone.' His good looks, emotional delivery, and vulnerability made him a teen idol. Unlike many British rock singers who copied American styles, Fury wrote many of his own songs. His career was limited by poor health and heart problems from childhood. Fury passed away in 1983 at 42, remembered as one of Britain's finest rock and roll singers.
