Big Bill Broonzy was an American blues singer, songwriter, and guitarist born in 1903, who became one of the most important blues figures. Broonzy's career spanned blues evolution from rural acoustic to urban electric, and he was pivotal in both styles. He began recording in the 1920s and became one of the most prolific blues artists. Broonzy's guitar playing was influential, combining ragtime, folk blues, and more modern Chicago blues styles. In the 1950s, Broonzy played a crucial role in introducing American blues to European audiences, helping spark the British blues boom. He passed away in 1958.
