The Bible were a British indie pop band formed in Cambridge in 1985, known for intelligent songwriting and jangly guitar pop sound. Led by Boo Hewerdine and featuring various members, The Bible created melodic, literate pop drawing comparisons to The Housemartins and Prefab Sprout. Their music was characterized by Hewerdine's thoughtful lyrics, acoustic and electric guitar interplay, and warm, organic production. Songs like 'Graceland' and 'Honey Be Good' showcased their ability to craft memorable melodies with substance. The Bible was critically acclaimed but never achieved major commercial breakthrough. They released several late 1980s albums before disbanding in 1990. Boo Hewerdine went on to successful solo career and songwriting for other artists.
