Bert Weedon was an English guitarist born in 1920, who became one of Britain's most influential guitar educators and popular instrumental recording artists. Weedon achieved late 1950s and early 1960s success with instrumental recordings showcasing skilled, melodic guitar playing. His hits included 'Guitar Boogie Shuffle' and 'Apache.' Beyond performing, Weedon's most significant contribution was his guitar tutorial book 'Play in a Day,' which taught millions to play guitar, including many who became famous musicians. The book influenced countless British guitarists including Beatles and Shadows members. Weedon was awarded an OBE for music services. He passed away in 2012.
