Artist: Benjamin Britten
Genre: Classical
Benjamin Britten was an English composer, conductor, and pianist born in 1913, considered one of the greatest British 20th-century composers. Britten created a distinctive British classical voice combining modernist techniques with accessibility and emotional directness. His opera 'Peter Grimes' in 1945 revitalized British opera and remains one of the most performed 20th-century operas. Other significant works include 'The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra,' 'War Requiem,' and 'A Ceremony of Carols.' Britten wrote extensively for children and amateur performers while also creating challenging professional works. He was made a life peer in 1976, the first composer to receive this honor. He passed away in 1976.
