Balaam and the Angel were a Scottish gothic rock/alternative rock band formed in Motherwell in 1984 by brothers Jim and Mark Morris. The band created dark, atmospheric rock combining gothic influences with alternative rock energy. Their music was characterized by dramatic vocals, heavy guitar work, and gothic imagery. Balaam and the Angel released several late 1980s albums including 'The Greatest Story Ever Told' and 'Days of Madness.' They toured with The Mission and other gothic rock bands. Despite critical acclaim and devoted following, they never achieved major commercial success. They represented the Scottish contribution to 1980s gothic rock.
