Ashford & Simpson were an American husband-and-wife songwriting and performing duo consisting of Nickolas Ashford and Valerie Simpson. They were among the most successful songwriting teams in popular music, penning Motown classics including 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough' and 'You're All I Need to Get By.' As performers, they achieved success in the late 1970s and 1980s with sophisticated R&B. Their biggest hit as performers was 'Solid' in 1984. Nickolas Ashford passed away in 2011.
