Arab Strap were a Scottish indie rock band formed in Falkirk in 1995 by vocalist Aidan Moffat and multi-instrumentalist Malcolm Middleton. The band became known for their darkly humorous, confessional lyrics delivered in Moffat's distinctive Scottish accent over minimalist, atmospheric musical backdrops. Their music combined indie rock, electronica, and experimental elements. Arab Strap's songs explored themes of sex, alcohol, depression, and small-town Scottish life with unflinching honesty and sardonic wit. They disbanded in 2006 but reunited in 2016.
