Artist: Amorphis
Genre: Progressive Metal

Amorphis are a Finnish heavy metal band formed in Helsinki in 1990, known for their unique blend of death metal, progressive rock, folk music, and melodic elements. The band started as a death metal group but evolved to incorporate clean vocals, progressive structures, and Finnish folk melodies, creating a distinctive sound. Their album 'Tales from the Thousand Lakes' is considered a landmark in the development of melodic death metal. Amorphis' lyrics draw heavily from Finnish mythology, particularly the Kalevala epic, setting them apart from typical metal bands. With vocalist Tomi Joutsen (who joined in 2005), the band perfected their combination of harsh and clean vocals, progressive song structures, and folk influences. Amorphis have maintained consistent quality and innovation throughout their career, earning respect as one of Finland's premier metal exports and influencing numerous bands in progressive and melodic death metal.
