Amon Düül (different from Amon Düül II) were a German musical collective formed in Munich in 1967 as part of a commune, representing the most experimental and chaotic end of the German psychedelic and krautrock movements. The original Amon Düül was more of a free-form collective than a traditional band, with various commune members participating in improvised musical sessions. Their music was characterized by wild, unstructured improvisation, ethnic percussion, and chanting. While they never achieved commercial success, their complete rejection of musical conventions made them significant.
