Alfie were a British indie rock band formed in Manchester in 1997, active during the late 1990s and early 2000s post-Britpop era. The band consisted of vocalist Lee Gorton, guitarist Ian Smith, bassist Matt McGeever, and drummer Sean Kelly. Alfie's music combined thoughtful, literate lyrics with melodic indie rock instrumentation, drawing comparisons to The Smiths and Belle and Sebastian. They released several albums including 'If You Happy with You Need Do Nothing.' While achieving critical acclaim, they never broke through to mainstream success.
