Al Green is an American soul singer, songwriter, and record producer, widely regarded as one of the greatest soul singers of all time. Born in Arkansas in 1946, Green rose to prominence in the early 1970s with a series of soul classics on Hi Records. His smooth, soaring falsetto and passionate delivery defined 1970s soul. Green's hits included 'Let's Stay Together,' 'Tired of Being Alone,' and 'Love and Happiness.' He later became an ordained pastor and focused on gospel music.
