After the Fire were a British rock band formed in London in 1974, initially playing progressive rock before evolving into new wave in the early 1980s. The band, fronted by Andy Piercy, achieved greatest success with the 1982 hit 'Der Kommissar,' an English-language cover of Falco's German song. The single reached number five in the US and became a new wave anthem. The band members were Christians, which influenced their songwriting. They disbanded in 1983 despite their chart success.
