Genre: Punk

The Adverts were an English punk rock band formed in London in 1976, becoming one of the early and influential bands of the first wave of British punk. Fronted by TV Smith and featuring bassist Gaye Advert, one of the few prominent female musicians in the punk scene, they gained attention for their raw energy and intelligent lyrics. Their debut single 'One Chord Wonders' was a punk anthem, while 'Gary Gilmore's Eyes' became a controversial UK hit. The band disbanded in 1979.
