Adeva (Patricia Daniels) is an American house music and gospel singer who became one of the most prominent vocalists in late 1980s house music. Born in Paterson, New Jersey, in 1960, Adeva's powerful, soulful voice bridged gospel tradition and electronic dance music. She achieved international success with her 1988 single 'Respect,' which topped dance charts and became a house music anthem. Her gospel-influenced vocal style brought authenticity and emotion to house music. Other hits included 'Warning' and 'I Thank You.'
