Academy were a British rock band formed in the 1990s, part of the UK's diverse indie and alternative rock scene. Many bands with similar names emerged during the British indie boom of the 1990s and 2000s, playing guitar-based rock music influenced by both British and American alternative traditions. These bands typically performed in local venues, released limited recordings, and contributed to vibrant grassroots music scenes across Britain, making valuable contributions to local music scenes even without achieving national or international recognition.
