A.R. Kane were a British musical duo formed in London in 1986 by Alex Ayuli and Rudy Tambala, who pioneered the dream pop and noise pop genres. The duo created a revolutionary sound by combining ethereal vocals, feedback, noise, and dub influences with pop songwriting, creating what they termed 'dreampop.' Their music was groundbreaking in its use of texture and atmosphere. They collaborated with Colourbox on M/A/R/R/S, which produced the UK number one hit 'Pump Up the Volume.' Despite their influence, they remained underground.
